A Random Act Of Kindness

A Random Act Of Kindness

This morning on the train I saw an amazing random act of kindness. The train was pretty crowded and sitting in front of me was older homeless white man. Standing up in front of the older man was a young black man, looked to be in his mid-twenties. The older man noticed the young man’s nice running shoes and began to tell the young man how he had never seen a pair like those before. The young man asked him if he liked them, and the older man replied yes those are nice. The young man thanked him and then asked what size he wore.

When the older man gave his size, the young man told him that the shoes were about a half size bigger than his size and asked him if he would like to have them. The older man seemed shocked as he just stared at the young man. Without any hesitation the young man took his shoes off and gave them to the older man. The older man asked him if he was sure he wanted to do that and the young man replied “I’m ok, I work at a shoe store. I can get me another pair”. As the older man put the shoes on the young man said “they feel good don’t they”. The older man replied yes and thanked him for the kind gesture.

Right after that my stop came. As I got off the train I walked passed the young man standing in the middle of the walkway in his socks. Simply amazed by the young man’s kindness, I nodded to him and he nodded back as I began to walk through the door way. It warms my heart to see that there are such caring people in this world.
